Bioenergy and forestry

Advancing bioenergy with our expertise in forestry.

Consultancy, innovation and supply chain expertise in bioenergy and forestry.

The natural link between forestry, low carbon heat and bioenergy is fundamental to sourcing, operating and maintaining sustainable energy ecosystems. Reheat’s unique first-hand experience spans from sustainable forest management, wood fuel production, and the industrial application of bioenergy – which has a huge role to play in achieving a future of Net Zero carbon.

Bioenergy programmes

Our work extends well beyond the forest gate, and we work on projects that actively stimulate and support supply chains, contribute to policy development and the practical delivery of a wide range of bioenergy technologies and fuels. These range from agricultural and food processing residue projects, through to supporting the the production of second generation sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and providing insights to UK government on the role that bioliquids and liquified biogas can play in decarbonising off-grid heating systems.

Energy resources from residues

Our expertise in low carbon heat means we can help clients convert residues and by-products into energy.

We can provide services such as:

  • Biofuel supply chain optimisation – Pairing generators of residues with end users for energy
  • Valorisation of waste stream and process optimisation – Identifying waste resources and the potential to utilise them for energy
  • Adding value to waste or residue bio feedstocks – Turning by-products into a commodity
  • Fuel quality analysis – Ongoing quality investigation support

UK forest supply chain advice and support

We advise and support clients who are looking to source their fuel for biomass heating systems from local forests, and have completed major advisory work for organisations such as the Hoar Cross Hall Hotel and Spa, Nc’nean Organic Whisky Distillery, Diageo, Argyll and Bute Council, and the National Trust.

Our work ensures clients benefit not only from a local, high quality, certified and reliable source to boost their environmental credentials, but also sourcing from local (often rural) suppliers who benefit from

Northwoods Forestry Sector Support Programme

Ex-MEP and author, Paul Brannen, speaks at a Northwoods event

Northwoods provides extensive support to the rural and forestry sectors by acting as a vehicle for funded forestry programmes. Owned by Reheat and operated alongside expert partners, it is a vehicle for funded initiatives such as a three-year Woods into Management Foresty Innovation Fund (WiMFIF) programme on behalf of the Forestry Commission. This involved the driving of innovation and collaboration in supporting woodland owners to bring their woodland into management, or support better woodland management practices.
